Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra has called the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam a “major victory” in the fight against corruption. Vijayendra claimed that the ED investigation has exposed “significant corruption” involving the Chief Minister.

In a post on X, Vijayendra stated: “Major Victory in our Fight Against the MUDA Scam! The ED’s investigation has exposed significant corruption involving CM @siddaramaiah, who allegedly used his political influence to illegally allocate sites in the name of his wife. The allocation of sites to benamis and dummies of influential persons further highlights the systemic corruption at play.”

Vijayendra also accused the Congress party of undermining the Governor’s constitutional authority. He noted that when the Governor granted sanction for Siddaramaiah’s prosecution, Congress “spared no effort in insulting and undermining the constitutional authority.”

“The Karnataka High Court had upheld the Governor’s decision, emphasizing that the allegations against the Chief Minister’s family warranted deeper investigation,” Vijayendra said.

He further highlighted that the BJP and JDS have consistently protested against the misuse of power by Siddaramaiah and his associates. “The ED’s findings validate our persistent fight against corruption and reveal that there is more to this scam than meets the eye,” he added.

Vijayendra called for Siddaramaiah’s resignation, saying, “If CM @siddaramaiah values the integrity of his office, he must step down immediately and allow an impartial probe to proceed. The people of Karnataka deserve transparency, accountability, and justice.”

The ED has attached 142 immovable properties, valued at approximately ₹300 crore, in connection with the MUDA scam involving Siddaramaiah and others. The properties were attached under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, and are registered in the names of various individuals working as real estate agents and businessmen.

The investigation was initiated based on an FIR registered by the Lokayukta Police Mysuru under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the ED, Siddaramaiah allegedly used his political influence to secure 14 sites in a posh locality for his wife, BM Parvathi, as compensation for three acres and 16 guntas of land acquired by MUDA. While the land was acquired for ₹3.24 lakh, the compensation in the form of the 14 sites is estimated to be worth ₹56 crore.

Vijayendra has called for a comprehensive investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to uncover the full extent of the scam. “This is merely the tip of the iceberg. It is alleged that thousands of crores in public money have been misappropriated in this scam. A thorough CBI investigation is required to bring the entire scandal to light,” he said.

The BJP leader also described the ED’s action as a “big slap” on those who criticized the party’s anti-corruption campaign. “This revelation reinforces the need for accountability at the highest level,” Vijayendra added.

The case has become a significant political flashpoint in Karnataka, with the BJP intensifying its campaign against the Congress government under Siddaramaiah.
